We learn more when we do things ourselves.
Oral skills are the main competences children aged 6-8 are developing in English. In first and second grade of primary we split the class up into two groups, once a week, in order to offer the children more opportunities to practise language and support.
In these lessons children are encouraged to use the structures and vocabulary they are working on in a meaningful way. They also recycle language they have seen previously in a different context. This is achieved through acting out activities such as role-plays,songs, routines, pair work activities or describing pictures.
